PETALING JAYA (May 9): It has been two days since the launch of the all-new property portal theedgeproperty.com and users, so far, have positive things to say about it.

"I believe the new web portal and the pullout would create more transparency in the local property market, especially with the help of the accurate transacted data and research analysis," said 32-year-old IT consultant Edison Liong Chan Yong.

The Singapore-based professional was among those whom theedgeproperty.com caught up with during The Edge Media Group's second activation campaign day, which is aimed at creating awareness and a buzz over the portal.

Liong added: "It is indeed a good effort, especially in assisting buyers and investors as myself."

The portal, which was officially launched on Thursday, features advanced analytics by area and property type, projects, sales transactions, asking rental rates, surrounding amenities, a hot spot tracker, property news and free property listings, among other useful tools.

The activation campaign hit prime locations around Klang Valley to spread the word about theedgeproperty.com, as well as The Edge Property pullout that comes free with The Edge Financial Daily on Fridays.

Today, the cruisers hit popular weekend locations of Sunway Pyramid, Empire Subang, Subang Parade, Citta Mall in Ara Damansara, Paradigm Mall, Tropicana City Mall, Centrepoint, 1 Utama, The Curve, Ikano Power Centre and Sunway Giza in Kota Damansara, from 10am to 10pm.

Another reader, Chandler Kwek, 30, project director of web company, Sweetmag Solutions said he prefered user-generated websites for property news. Still, he believed it is good that the The Edge is expanding its property section.

"The good thing about theedgeproperty.com is the fact that it educates the users on the latest rental rates, average transaction prices and so on, for free.

"As an investor, that kind of data is most valuable," Kwek added.

UCSI University student and part-time model, Cheong Kai Sing, 22, shared that he is currently saving to buy a landed property in Bangsar.

"I think theedgeproperty.com has the right tools and area-based analytics, that would ultimately help in my decision making, especially in terms of budgets, prices and values concerning the area of Bangsar," he said.

Shah Alam resident, Khaisara Zuhairi, 42, said she would refer the website to friends who want to learn more about property.

"I find this portal useful to gain more insight on the property market through the news feature," she said.

The activation campaign, which gathered massive attention from onlookers for its four human billboards dressed in black skinsuits and six brand ambassadors wearing 3D model home caps, set a target to reach more than 10,000 people through the free distribution of The Edge Property pullout and balloons.

Catch the cruisers tomorrow on the third and final day of the campaign, as they hit Bukit Bintang – Pavilion, Starhill, Fahrenheit 88, Sungei Wang, Lot 10, Wisma Central, Grand Millennium (Intersection), Suria KLCC, Avenue K and Quill Mall in Jalan Sultan Ismail.
