BANGI (3 Nov): UEM Sunrise Bhd plans to launch Begonia 2-storey terraced homes, the second parcel within the first phase of its Serene Heights Bangi township, this weekend.

Begonia, which comprises 153 units, sits on 15.46 acres of freehold land and has a gross development value of RM107.3 million.

This follows the launch of Acacia, comprising 121 units of 2-storey terraced houses, which is already sold out.

“We are pleased to announce that 40% of the 2-storey terraces Begonia have been taken up prior to its launch. This displays how strong the level of interest is from homebuyers and investors in our projects,” said UEM Sunrise managing director and CEO, Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib at a media briefing today.

“The township is a 10-year development project, but if the market picks up, we might launch our projects faster,” Anwar added.

The first phase will include commercial lots and shop lots in the later parcels, the number of which will be confirmed later.

Begonia units have a built-up area 2,204 sq ft upwards. Prices start at RM636,800.

Begonia and Acacia is targeted for completion by 2018.

Anwar added that the township will have serviced apartments and semi-detached projects in the near future, without confirming a date.

“The surrounding area is quite mature, with schools, medical hubs and hospitals in the vicinity, so we will focus on the residential units first before going into commercial units and shop lots,” said Roslan.

“We are also speaking to consultants to improve connectivity from the Lekas highway to the township,” said Anwar.

Serene Heights Bangi has a total GDV of RM 3.2 billion and will split into three phases.

Prior to the briefing, UEM Sunrise unit Symphony Hills Sdn Bhd signed a deal with Telekom Malaysia for the provision of High Speed Broadband (HSBB) infrastructure to all residential units under the Serene Heights Bangi Development Plan.

On its overseas projects, Anwar said UEM Sunrise is looking to launch its apartments in St Kilda, Melbourne in the second half of next year.
