Overview
Ledang is a new district in the state of Johor. This district was formerly the northern part of the Muar district. The Muar River separates the northern part from the southern part. On June 9, 2008, a ceremony headed by the sultan saw the official proclamation of Ledang as Johor’s 10th district. The new Ledang district encompasses Tanjung Agas, Kesang, Sungai Mati, Serom, Sagil, Bukit Gambir and Tangkak town.
Places of Attraction
One of Ledang’s main tourist attractions is the Gunung Ledang National Park. This national park is situated 170 kilometres from Johor Bahru and has two entry points – one in Sagil, Johor while the other is in Asahan, Malacca. As the 64th highest mountain in Malaysia, Gunung Ledang is amongst the must-climb venues for amateur hikers or climbers. The Gunung Ledang National Park also hosts Sagil waterfall, which is a renowned picnic destination.
It was announced in December 2015 that from 2016 onwards, the district of Ledang is to be known as Tangkak instead.
