Overview

Pasir Gudang is a town located in the Johor Bahru district in the state of Johor. This industrial town which was established in 1918 can trace the origin of its name from the presence of a major sand mine which is located in Kampung Ulu. Sand or ‘pasir’ in Bahasa Malaysia was dug and collected in stores or ‘gudang’ before being exported to Singapore, hence the name ‘Pasir Gudang’.  The Pasir Gudang Highway, a trunk road as well as a railway line connects Pasir Gudang to Johor Bahru.

Since its establishment however, Pasir Gudang town has grown over the years and now boasts of a sizeable population size as well as development in the area. Developments include an educational hub which houses numerous universities and colleges, shopping malls, private hospitals as well as high-end residential developments including an Australian-based development named Senibong Cove.  Additionally, the enhancement of infrastructure such as the building of a second bridge in Permas Jaya, also boosts accessibility to the area.

For over 20 years, Pasir Gudang has also hosted the acclaimed Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival where tens of thousands of visitors flock to attend this annual event.  However, the Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival should not only be Pasir Gudang’s claim to fame as this town has so much more to offer not only in terms of property investment, but from other aspects as well.
