Overview

If you ever Googled Bagan Lalang, the Ong Cheng Huat Seafood restaurant will hit your search results in an instant. But the sleepy town of Bagan Lalang – once considered a rural part of Butterworth – has recently seen a rise in development.

Previously dotted with villages amid paddy fields in the horizon, many new residential areas have come up reportedly in the last decade. This is also likely because the town is a stone's throw away from the Mak Mandin and Sungai Lokan industrial estates in Seberang Perai.

Bagan Lalang which has a market, and its fair share of schools, clinics and even a veterinarian, but still, a larger number of amenities can be found some 8km away in Seberang Jaya at which many malls and hypermarkets like Tesco are located, or 5km away in Permatang Pauh.

Local public transportation service, Rapid Penang bus services ply the route via the main road – Jalan Bagan Lalang – which is connected to the Butterworth Outer Ring Road, about 5.5km away.
