An area within Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Minyak is mostly known as an industrial zone.
Located in the opposite direction of Autocity off the Juru interchange on the North South Expressway, Bukit Minyak also houses some residential areas amid its many industrial land areas.
The area is often heavy with traffic – factory buses and motorists who often ply through Bukit Minyak to access the North South Expressway to head towards the island or to Butterworth, some 10km away.
The Bukit Minyak industrial areas can be seen alongside the North South Expressway and also has a vocational college in its area.
Quite like Bukit Tengah, near its borders, Bukit Minyak has seen some amount of development – residential, commercial and mixed, alike. The most established housing area closest to Bukit Minyak is Taman Kota Permai which also has a supermarket and coffeeshops.
