Overview

Juru is an industrial area in Seberang Prai, Penang. It is named after the Juru Village, which got its name from the Juru River.

Manufacturing is the main industry in the area with industrial parks and estates. Many residential developments in Juru were built to accommodate the people who work in the numerous factories here.

Located within the Simpang Ampat postal area, it houses industrialised areas such as Bukit Tengah and Bukit Minyak as well as small scale industries such as Taman Perusahaan Juru and Taman Perindustrian Beringin.

Juru also hosts a number of villages, namely Kampung Bahan Nyior, Kuala Juru, Kampung Sungai Semilang, Kampung Bukit Kecil and Kampung Tok Kangar, while famous housing estates consist of Taman Cendana and Taman Desa Juru.

Properties here benefit in terms of larger land parcels and lower prices compared to similar sizes on the Penang Island. Many properties are built with proximity to the industrial areas. Neighbouring towns include Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Minyak and Bukit Tambun.

 

Amenities and Facilities

One of the main F&B and retail hub in Juru is the Auto City Mall that features car showrooms and a venue for various community events.  For a more enhanced experience, Prai Megamall, AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam and Sunway Carnival Mall are also located nearby.

Educational establishments are abundant with schools such as SK Juru, SJK (T) Ladang Juru, SK Bukit Minyak, SMK Alma, SK Pendidikan Khas Alma, SJK (C) True Light as well as St Mark’s School, which is slightly further away. In addition, there are also clinics, kindergartens, convenience stores, pharmacies, petrol stations and banks.

There is also the establishment of the Japan-Malaysia Technical Institute and the Vocational College of Seberang Perai.

 

Accessibility and Transportation

Given the number of villages in the vicinity, inner routes that branch off the main roads include Jalan Perusahaan, Jalan Juru, Jalan Estate, Jalan Tok Kangar, Jalan Bukit Tengah and Jalan Bukit Minyak that leads to the villages.

The North-South Expressway cuts through Juru at exit 160 and it also has a connection to the Penang Bridge.

The Juru R&R is a popular pit-stop among travellers especially those crossing over to Penang Island.

Bus stops are located along the main trunk road of Juru, allowing residents to move about in the town itself.
