Overview
Valdor or Val d’Or is a Portuguese word which means Valley of Gold. Valdor is an agricultural village located in mainland Penang and comes under the administration of Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP). Today it is known for its industrial activities, heritage locations and farming. The town has the largest poultry farm in Penang.
Located between Sungai Bakap and Simpang Ampat, Valdor is also known for its industrial activities.
In the late 19th century, a Chinese man, Kee Lee Huat bought 100 acres of swampland in what we know today as Valdor and drained it to cultivate sugarcanes. The location is well known for its temple, mainly the Kee Lai Huat ancestral temple, which was home for the Kee clan, believed to be residing in Malaysia for nine generations.
Other attactions in Valdor include the Devi Sri Karumariamman Temple and the Mountain View Golf Resort.
Properties in Valdor are one of the lowest in Penang, in terms of prices. There is only one notable new development in the area.
Valdor is said to be a location which could host upscale properties, with the scarcity of land in Penang Island. It has the potential to be filled with abundant convenience, being close to major attractions and amenities such as schools, banks, hospitals, shopping and entertainment.
Seberang Perai, with its abundance of land compared to the island, has seen rapid growth in terms of property development, dominated by landed properties in the past few years. Low take-up rate has been observed for newly launched properties, but the secondary market has seen active transactions.
Amenities and Facilities
Valdor is close to amenities such as shopping locations, schools and hospitals. It is located near to the Pearl City Mall, Design Village, Penang International Airport, SJKC Ladang Valdor and SMK Valdor, while the Sungai Bakap hospital is about 10 minutes away.
It is also near to the Penang Science Park, Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Bukit Minyak Industrial Park and Perpustakaan Desa Sungai Bakap.
Valdor is located in the vicinity of towns such as Simpang Ampat, Nibong Tebal and Butterworth, which offers various amenities.
Accessibility and Transportation
Valdor is located quite strategically, between the Ipoh-Butterworth intersections and near to the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge which connects to the island. It is also easily accessible via the North-South Highway and Federal Highway.
The nearest KTM stations will be the Nibong Tebal station and Simpang Ampat station. Valdor is also accessible via Rapid Penang buses.
The location still lacks extensive infrastructure and connectivity but is said to be improved in coming years as more developments are expected in the area.
