Bangi is a small town in Selangor, between Kajang and Putrajaya and is about 40 kilometres from the Kuala Lumpur city centre. It is considered part of the Southern Corridor of Klang Valley and has been developing due to the emergence of Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Accessibility and Transportation
It has its own KTM Komuter station and can be accessed via North Klang Valley Expressway (Putra Mahkota interchange), LEKAS Highway and South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE).
Amenities and Facilities
It is a predominantly Malay residential area. Nearby is the Bandar Baru Bangi, situated north of the original Bangi town also known as Knowledge City and where modern living of Bangi starts. It is known for its numerous education/training hubs namely for University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Kuala Lumpur International University (KLIU) and University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), industrial/manufacturing areas namely for Sony, Denso, Hitachi, and government agencies - Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Malaysia Nuclear Agency and a long list of primary and secondary schools that amounts to more than 20 such centres. .
In terms of retail centres, its local offering like PKNS Bangi Shopping Centre and Bangi Mall is very suburban. It has its own KPJ Kajang Hospital and Columbia Specialist. There is also the Bangi Equatorial Hotel overlooking the Bangi Golf Course.
Sunway has launched its latest mixed development - Sunway Gandaria, due for completion in 2020 where its block of serviced apartments stand to be the tallest landmark in the area known as the Peak of Bangi. The development of Bangi has improved since IOI launched its Bandar Puteri Bangi over 370 acres of freehold mixed integrated developments that has Almyra Residence, The Terresse, Kubica Square and Enigma Square. Mah Sing Group has its Southville City in Bangi - a mixed-use township spanning 428 acres of freehold land and is expected to attract the educational group. The township is located within vicinity of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Multimedia University (MMU) and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
There is a Tesco Bandar Puteri Bangi, its 56th store in Malaysia to give shoppers more choices in addition to the local Giant Hypermarket. There will be a new mall in Bangi - Bangi Mall.
