Semenyih is a small yet booming town in Selangor, about 8 kilometres from the south eastern part of Kajang and along the Kajang-Seremban road. Semenyih is under the Hulu Langat district, a parliamentary constituency between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. There has been growing interests in Semenyih over the years, with big property developers building there such as Eco World, MKH Bhd and Glomac Bhd.
The Semenyih River runs thru the town is a major water catchment area as it services one of the main dams of the Selangor state - the Semenyih Dam that was built in 1985 and is a popular recreation spot for families and anglers. Semenyih is a hilly area, the highest peak being Bukit Arang (560 metres high), which has many scenic waterfalls - namely Sungai Gabai Waterfalls and Congkak River Forest Recreational Centre.
Property growth in Semenyih has grown rapidly due to a few factors such as greater accessibility from new highways namely Kajang SILK Highway and LEKAS Highway, growing popularity of local attraction spots (Broga Hills, Semenyih Dam, Superkart Indoor Karting) and land scarcity in Klang Valley.
A number of top property developers arrived at Semenyih to develop the township into a metropolis with housing to cater to the middle group, a booming business centre and to equip it with modern amenities. For instance, upcoming residential developments are Eco Majestic by Eco World, comprising 1,089 acres of freehold land with its selling points being fully gated and guarded self-sustainable township with good accessibility. There are several phases in the perimeter, which is expected to have more than 600 units a phase. An extra 150-acre land has been set aside to be developed as the central business location of the town.
Another residential development is the Country Garden Diamond City - a Spanish themed villa township on a 257-acre tract and targeted at the upper middle class. A notable mixed development is the Kiara Plaza by SYF Development. Existing developments such as Sunway Semenyih, Setia Eco Hill and Taman Pelangi Semenyih are top properties in the area.
Accessibility and Transportation
Another key growth is the new Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line will have three MRT stations in Kajang: Saujana Impian, Bandar Kajang and Jalan Reko, due in 2017 which are about 15 minutes-drive to the townships.

There are commercial centres and retail hubs in Semenyih are a few minutes’ drive away from the development, providing a wide range of restaurants, convenience stores, cafes, banks and other retail outlets. Healthcare options in the vicinity include Hospital Kajang, KPJ Kajang Specialist Hospital and Columbia Asia Hospital, aside from private clinics and a government healthcare centre. Local shopping facilities include the local TESCO and Econsave Semenyih and the nearby options in Kajang namely Billion Shopping Centre, Metro Plaza Kajang, Metro Point and Kompleks Kota Kajang.
Some famous academic facilities are the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Australia International School, Tanarata International School and the Nilai International School.
