Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, or Permas Jaya for short, is a sprawling residential and industrial township in Johor Bahru, Johor. Since being established, the township has become increasingly popular with investors and purchasers, due to its excellent location and wide range of quality properties. For starters, Permas Jaya is just about 20 minutes away from the Johor Bahru city centre with normal traffic. It is also situated equally near to Singapore and the Pasir Gudang Port – roughly 15km in each direction. From the township, residents just need to drive a short distance to get to the Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link Expressway (EDL) that stretches from the Johor Bahru city centre to the North-South Expressway (NSE), the main highway running through western Peninsular Malaysia. One of the landmarks in the vicinity is the Permas Jaya Bridge, a long arched bridge that links the township with the Johor Bahru city. The Johor Bahru East Coast Highway, which fully opened to public in 2013, goes from the Johor Bahru city centre to Pasir Gudang, passing through this bridge. A second Permas Jaya bridge came into use in 2012. Combined with the EDL, it helps to improve the flow of traffic in the area, especially for those travelling from Singapore into Johor. Moreover, the Senai International Airport, while not extremely near, is a reasonable 30km from the township – convenient enough for occasional trips. Amenities within Permas Jaya include the Permas Mall, AEON Mall Permas Jaya, primary and secondary schools like SK Permas Jaya 4 and SMK Permas Jaya 2, a public 9-hole golf course (Permas Jaya Golf Club), the Permas Jaya Sport Complex, Chinese and Hindu temples, petrol stations, car service centres, eateries, banks and a light industrial zone. With Permas Jaya being an ideal address, it is no surprise that many developments have sprung up here. For instance, the upscale Straits View Condominium positioned to take advantage of the beautiful green views of the Permas Jaya Golf Club opposite it, the low-density Fair View condominium that provides a calm haven within Permas Jaya’s bustling commercial precinct, and the more moderately priced Pan Vista Apartment. Depending on the size of the units, the high-rise residential properties in Permas Jaya are usually suited for working professionals or smaller families, offering them a convenient urban lifestyle close to – yet away from the congestion of – the Johor Bahru city centre.
