API of Johan Setia, Klang remains above 200

SHAH ALAM (Sept 12): Johan Setia Klang, Selangor remains as the only area in the peninsular with an Air Pollutant Index (API) of more than 200 or very unhealthy, this morning.

Based on the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, as at 9am today, the area recorded 219 on the API compared to 198.

Five areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy API readings which are Shah Alam (157), Petaling Jaya (153), Klang (150), Banting (132) and Kuala Selangor (140).

Also recorded unhealthy are Batu Muda (144) and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur ( 127); Putrajaya (128); Nilai, Negri Sembilan (127); Tangkak, Johor (110); Jerantut, Pahang (115) and Sri Aman, Sarawak (160).

Other areas with unhealthy air quality are Minden (103) and Balik Pulau (128) in Penang, and Tasik Ipoh (103) and Seri Manjung (140) in Perak.

Meanwhile, 51 areas in the peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak recorded moderate readings.

API readings of 0 - 100 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (not healthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) while 300, hazardous.
