BRT users down to 20 from 67: Prasarana

KUALA LUMPUR (May 23): Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) yesterday announced that the number of users for a Rapid Transit Bus (BRT) has been reduced from 67 to 20 passengers at a time to comply with social distancing in curbing the spread of Covid-19.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, said 15 electric buses were operating daily for the BRT-Sunway Route service by implementing strict SOP.

He said this to reporters after a work visit at the BRT Sunway Complex yesterday.

During the visit, he also visited the BRT Control Centre, which monitors bus movements through direct communication with the "bus captain" as well as the depot, where a briefing on maintenance work and recharging of bus batteries was given.

Also present were Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij and Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Ku Jamil Zakaria.

BRT was launched on June 1, 2015 with the BRT-Sunway Route service making national history as the country's first rapid transit bus service as well as being the first stage bus service to fully operate electric buses.
