BANGKOK (Feb 8): Best Western International has launched its first hotel in Saudi Arabia.

Located in the booming Gulf city of Al Khobar, the Best Western PLUS Sand Rose Suite Hotel features 48 rooms and suites, and a range of facilities for both business travellers and family groups.

The guestrooms include 12 hotel rooms and 36 luxurious suites, which range from 70-150 sq m. The Junior Suites are ideal for couples, while the two-bedroom Executive Suites cater for mid-size families. The larger Panorama Suites offer two bedrooms with a separate living and dining area and kitchenette, and the expansive Royal Suites feature three bedrooms, a large living and dining space, kitchenette and an extra guest bathroom.

All rooms and suites come with Wi-Fi and panoramic views of the city skyline, the thriving corniche or the waters of the Gulf.

Facilities include a fully-equipped business center, a swimming pool and fitness centre.

"This is a momentous occasion for Best Western International. The opening of the Best Western PLUS Sand Rose Suite Hotel marks not only the addition of another superb hotel to our portfolio, but also our entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With many more hotels planned, we expect this booming country to become a key member of our global family," said Glenn de Souza, Best Western International vice president international operations (Asia & the Middle East), in a statement.

Located in Saudi Arabia's main oil producing region, Eastern Province, the prosperous city of Al Khobar is seeing a swell of development, with the waterfront corniche featuring cosmopolitan parks, cafes and restaurants. The city is served by the King Fahd International Airport and linked directly to Bahrain via the 26km King Fahd Causeway, making it an ideal hub for regional business travel.
