KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has won another package of the Sabah Ammonia Urea (Samur) project in the state valued at RM67.23 million. The latest contract pushed the company’s order book to RM1.52 billion.

In June this year, Bina Puri was awarded Package 3 of the project valued at RM22.35 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Bina Puri said its wholly owned subsidiary, Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, was awarded the latest contract for the supply, fabrication and construction of civil works of Package 7 of the Samur project in Sipitang, Sabah.

The contract was awarded by a consortium of Apex Energy Sdn Bhd and PT Rekayasa Industri.  The contract period is 11 months.

Located at Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park, the Samur project is being developed by Petronas Chemical Group Bhd and consists of a urea plant, granulation and ammonia plants as well as utilities and jetty facilities.

The scope of work for Bina Puri’s latest contract includes foundation works, earthworks, internal drain, concrete works and masonry works

“We are confident of completing the work successfully, with our track record of having worked in Sabah on more than RM1.5 billion worth of completed projects since July 1994,” said Bina Puri group managing girector Tan Sri Datuk Tee Hock Seng.

Some of the completed projects carried out by Bina Puri in Sabah include facilities for Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), the 38-km Kota Kinabalu-Sulaman Coastal Road, Institut Latihan Perindustrian Sabah and the Jesselton Condominium.

Bina Puri is currently constructing the new Sabah state administrative centre worth RM388.7 million, and the KK Time Square worth RM470.3 million.

In Sarawak, Bina Puri has completed the construction of the new state legislative assembly building complex in Petra Jaya in Kuching.
