KOTA KINABALU (Feb 3): Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) will carry out a major project this year costing RM38 million to beautify the city.
Kota Kinabalu Mayor, Datuk Abidin Madingkir said the project was divided into three phases with the first phase involving the building of a pedestrian walkway and 25.3km cycleway from Tanjung Aru to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). This project will start in April.
"The second and third phase is the Sungai Sembulan's beautification project," he said at a flag-raising ceremony held in conjunction with Kota Kinabalu's 12th City Day celebration, here, on Thursday.
Abidin said DBKK would also improve the public transport system and build a bus terminal in Jalan Kepayan, upgrade the drainage system to avoid flash floods and carry out an anti-littering campaign. — Bernama
