CYBERJAYA (May 22): The Emkay Group is set to increase its investments in Cyberjaya over the next five years to RM3.8 billion.

Dubbed the "New Wave", the slew of new projects to be launched includes Auto Ville for automotive support services, 856 commercial units, purpose-built IT buildings and 3,250 residential units of various types.

"Our active involvement in Cyberjaya's development started in 2004. The Emkay Group created the momentum by investing RM1.3 billion to date in the development of purpose built office buildings, Cyberjaya's first LEED (Leadership in Environment and Energy Design) Gold green building, as well as other commercial and residential units," said EMKAY Group and Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal at the official opening of Wisma Mustapha Kamal in Cyberjaya on May 17.

The event was graced by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Wisma Mustapha Kamal is the group's latest Grade A office development, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM150 million. It comprises two towers of 11 levels each, with a total net floor area of 262,748 sq ft.

The group has developed properties with an estimated total GDV of RM10 billion, comprising over 50,000 units of residential and commercial properties and five million sq ft of office space.

Its major developments currently include NeoDamansara in Damansara Perdana; NeoCyber, MKN Embassy Techzone in Cyberjaya; and the Pulau Banding Development in Tasik Temengor, Gerik, Perak.

The "New Wave" (2012-2016) will see new investment in Cyberjaya totalling RM20 billion over the next five years, with investment from the Emkay Group as well as other developers.

The "New Wave" has support from several bodies, including the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Cyberview Sdn Bhd and the Sepang City Municipality. It is set to contribute approximately 18 million sq ft of office space; 1,200 shop units; 14,000 residential units; seven schools and eight universities and colleges, as well as a population projection of 100,000 by 2016.

Cyberjaya recently received recognition from the Japanese government during the "International Forum of Future City Initiatives" held in Tokyo in February 2012. It was selected as one of the first models in the world of "Future Cities", which share in leading practices in the field of sustainable development.
