KUALA LUMPUR: KIP Group plans to build three 3-star hotels in the next four years as part of its foray into the hospitality business.

The hotels will be located on a 0.4-acre site within Taman Wahyu in Selayang, its KIP Sentral mixed-use development in Sepang, and Melaka.

"The hotels in Sepang and Melaka are still in the planning stage, but we expect to complete the Sepang hotel by 2016," she said its director Valerie Ong at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Selayang hotel today.

The first KIP Hotel will be managed by the Lexis Hotel Group, which also operates Lexis, Grand Lexis and Lexis Hibiscus hotels in Port Dickson and Lexis Suites in Penang.

The 12-storey KIP Hotel in Selayang will contain 199 rooms priced tentatively from RM180 ++ onwards.

Its facilities include swimming pools, rooftop and poolside bar, banquet hall, business centre and fitness centre.

KIP Hotel is eyeing business and family travellers and targets occupancy levels of at least 70%, with a 5% increase each year.

Lexis Hotel Group vice president of sales and marketing Steve Woon said the hotel will provide a feeder bus service for guests to connect them to the KTM station in the neighbourhood or other points of interest such as Sunway Putra Mall along Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur.

The Selayang hotel is expected to open in the second quarter of 2015. The groundbreaking ceremonies for the Sepang and Malacca hotels are scheduled to take place next year.

KIP Group, which was founded in 1993, has developed light factories, residential and commercial properties and manages six KIP Marts and plans to open another four outlets within the next two years.
