Malaysia REIT sector still has strong growth prospects, says minister

KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): Malaysia's Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) sector still has strong growth prospects, said the minister of housing and local government Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung.

"The REIT market has been very successful in many counties such as the US, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia where REITs have achieved steady growth,” Chor said in in his opening address for the REIT conference organized by Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) on Monday.

He said that in Malaysia, REITs started only six to seven years ago but they were now drawing attention.
