PORT DICKSON (June 29,2012): Maritime International Gateway Sdn Bhd will develop a mega international standard tourism project here known as International Maritime Gateway or 'Image' Port Dickson.

Managing Director Mohd Azman Ahmad said the project is set over 6.07 hectares (15 acres) in Port Dickson town."The project is already underway and we have appointed the contractor for the excavation works. The estimated cost of the project is RM964 million while the gross development value is about RM2.2 billion.

"The project does not involve any reclamation work and maintains the natural environment. The development concept is also to maintain the heritage element with modern features and the project is expected to be completed in three years," he told Bernama.

Azman said among the facilities in the project is a hotel and apartment resort, Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex and international terminal, MICE Centre, trade centre, duty free mall and aquaria underwater world, marina as well as specialist medical centre.

He said the project had been endorsed by the Public Private Sector Partnership Unit (UKAS) and the Ministry of Tourism, while registered with the Economic Transformation Programme by PEMANDU.

"We have also been included in the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) blueprint as one of the entry points for international cruises.The whole project area has been gazetted by the Negri Sembilan state government as a duty free zone.

"Once completed, the project will change Port Dickson's landscape to a premier international tourism centre in the region," Azman added  -- Bernama
