SINGAPORE (Nov 4): Malaysia Property Inc (MPI) has roped in distinguished property developers and government agencies to form a dynamic Malaysian contingent at MIPIM Asia 2011.

IJM Land Bhd, MSC Malaysia, Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and Sunway Bhd form Malaysia's contingent for the three-day premier real estate event beginning Nov 15.

The event, at Hong Kong and Exhibition Centre, reaches out to the region's highest concentration of corporate and institutional investors in the Asia-Pacific region.

MPI is a non-profit government agency under the purview of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister's Department and funded by the Malaysian government.

MPI chief executive officer Kumar Tharmalingam said MPI was confident the industry players' portfolio featured under the Malaysian delegation this year would garner investors' interest through the developers strong track record and readily available investment opportunities.

"This will be the first of many large-scale concerted efforts to highlight Malaysian real estate players to the region.

"For MIPIM Asia, both MPI and participating companies expect to increase brand awareness among regional players and to maintain the momentum of this effort through follow-up conversations originating from the course of this event," he said when unveiling the Malaysian contingent line-up.

With MIPIM Asia's initiatives such as a Malaysia lunch table co-chaired by Malaysian industry captains and Malaysia's specific networking tables, MPI is confident of making a significant presence to the institutional and corporate investors attending MIPIM Asia, both in terms of Malaysia's country presence and individual engagement by Malaysian companies.

While MPI's ultimate objective at MIPIM Asia is to raise the profile of the investment potential and opportunities in the Malaysian real estate sector, MPI's efforts co-exist with the support of the real estate-related government initiatives like the Greater KL new key economic area (NKEA) under Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) and Malaysia's Green Building Index.

Information from these initiatives are given a significant presence at the Malaysia Pavilion.

The Malaysia Pavilion brings together an aggregate of opportunities from Malaysian delegates within the pavilion including Malaysian companies looking for hotel and retail operators.

Institutional investors will have opportunities to talk to Malaysian companies on opportunities in en-bloc residential and commercial acquisitions, joint-venture partners for development projects, greenfield development opportunities and project-funding.

Investor activities planned at the Malaysia Pavilion, include "Meet The Malaysian Players' Networking Session" from 4pm to 6pm every day, featuring a strong line-up of top developers and government-linked companies representing some of Malaysia's most prominent projects.

The 126 sq m Malaysia Pavilion, an MPI initiative, is designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates.

The award-winning architectural and design firm came up with an ingenious theme titled "The Weave of Wealth" to describe the revealing and presentation on a single continuous strand "ribbon".

The "ribbon" represents Malaysia's shared values and development quality in a diverse property offerings. The Malaysia Pavilion is at Stand 1-C01-D02. — Bernama
