KUALA LUMPUR (April 12): Malaysia will host the Asia Pacific Real Estate Awards here from April 26-27, an event which celebrates the achievements of companies in the property industry.

International Property Award chairman Stuart Shields said Malaysia's economic growth had been stable and projected to further expand in the Asia Pacific region with its active property sector.

"The push for sustainble development is also expected to chart a new direction for this sector. Our confidence in property developers in Malaysia has been increasing and we hope to see good response for the awards in Malaysia."

He said this in a joint statement issued on Thursday by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Asia, a global professional institution in the land and property development industry, and the awards co-organising company Sandeep Juneja & Associates.

The event, which will honour the achievements made in 2010/2011 period, is also expected to provide an avenue for professionals in the industry from consultants to arhitects and contractors to network and establish contacts with each other.

"We hope to see more participation from Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region for the 2012/13 awards," Shields said.

Seminars and round table forums are also expected to be featured during the two-day event.

The awards will not only acknowledge winners but provide them the motivation to continue to innovate and create properties of international standards, Shields said.

The international awards event will see awards for various categories covering several regions including Asia Pacific, Saudi Arabia, Africa, Canada, the Carribean, Central and South America, Europe, United Kingdom and the US.

A total of 65 experienced professionals will sit on jury for the awards. — Bernama
