KUALA LUMPUR: Naim Holdings Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China’s Institute of Digital Guandong (IDG), Guangdong RFID Technology Service Centre (GDRC) and Smartag Solutions Bhd towards developing a digital city in Permyjaya, Miri, Sarawak.

In a statement yesterday, Naim, which is the developer of Permyjaya, said IDG was a public service organisation from Guangzhou, Guangdong involved in research and planning and was a think-tank in both ICT infrastructure in South China as well as for the commercialisation of digital concepts, homes, buildings and cities.

It said IDG also had extensive connections with various South China provinces, including the Guangdong province, and with district planning councils towards developing digital societies and lifestyles.

Meanwhile, it said GDRC provided localised technical support on radio frequency identification infrastructure (RFID) in Guangdong, as well as commercialisation of RFID applications in logistics, manufacturing retailing and the IT industry.

Naim added Smartag was a total RFID system and solutions provider, and had developed its own Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS) which was able to provide regional linkages including the placing of total RFID EPCIS solution servers in Guangdong to enable L2 and L3 system linkages between Sarawak and Guangdong.
