KUALA LUMPUR: S P Setia Bhd was honoured recently with the title of the developer Malaysians trust the most in the Reader's Digest Asia Trusted Brands 2012 study for the second time running.

The developer took home the Gold Trusted Brand Award in the Property Development category at the gala awards dinner held on May 29. Receiving the award from guest of honour Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was S P Setia director Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.

The study is based on responses to questionnaires distributed via Reader's Digest copies as well as telephone interviews of randomly selected, upscale consumers. All survey work is carried out for Reader's Digest by Ipsos, one of the world's leading custom research firms.

The S P Setia brand had grown regionally with the developer's first international foray to Vietnam in 2007, when it joined forces with Becamex IDC Corp to develop EcoLakes at the MyPhuoc Industrial Park. In 2010, EcoLakes was named First Runner-up in the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Award for Best Development Master Plan.

The developer's regional reach now includes Melbourne, Australia and Singapore.In Melbourne, S P Setia is building Fulton Lane, an upmarket high-rise residential development right in the heart of Melbourne's Central Business District. In Singapore, it recently launched 18 Woodsville, a condominium project located minutes away from the Potong Pasir MRT on the North East line.

Locally, the Group also has five FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards won in 2011, 2010, 2008 and 2006 by Setia Eco Park, Setia Eco Gardens and Duta Nusantara.

The group is also part of a local consortium formed by the government to jointly develop the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park in China. S P Setia is also actively exploring opportunities in the United Kingdom.

The Reader's Digest Study, now in its 14th year is carried out in eight markets across Asia (China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand) to determine the brands most trusted by consumers in 43 different product and service categories.

In Asia, Reader's Digest is the largest-circulating international magazine (more than one million copies are sold each month), with multiple editions published in English, Chinese, Thai, and Bahasa Indonesia. The magazine is published in 50 editions and 21 languages.
