KUALA LUMPUR: The Tan Sri Ar Chan Sau Lai Architecture Award 2013, organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), is now open for submissions.

The award, which offers grants totalling RM50,000 to the winners, is to recognise outstanding achievements by students of architecture and design and introduce these students to the profession and the industry.

Registration is open to PAM student members graduating in a Part II architecture degree of an architect course in 2012 or Malaysian students who will be completing their studies in the present year in the country or abroad. They will be required to submit their final year work for the 2013 award.

There will be two stages of submissions. During the first stage, the jury may shortlist up to 10 design projects. The selected participants will proceed to the second stage by making a presentation of their design projects in person or via tele-conferencing.

The closing date for stage one submissions is Feb 4 at noon. Stage two submissions will be open on March 4 while the closing date will be April 4 at noon. The presentation for stage two judging will commence in April.

The award winners will be announced and their winning submissions exhibited during the Datum:KL Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival in June.
