KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): Sunway Integrated Properties Sdn Bhd was recognised as one of Malaysia's top ten property developers for the second consecutive year at the BCI Asia Awards 2012.

In a statement on Thursday, Sunway Integrated Properties — the property arm of Sunway Bhd — was awarded the title through a selection process based on the greatest volume of buildings over an annual qualification period. BCI Asia Research's consultants went through more than a quarter million interviews with architects, developers and contractors reporting on significant building projects in Asia Pacific.

The awards ceremony was recently held at KL Hilton, and recognises ten top property developers and architectural firms that have had the greatest impact in the Southeast Asia region.

"The BCI Asia Awards is an excellent recognition for Sunway as it reinforces our position as an outstanding property developer and gives us the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to deliver only the best for our customers," Ho Hon Sang, managing director of Sunway Group's property development division said.

"Besides being a property developer that aims to build a better life for the community to live, work, play, heal and learn, Sunway is also committed to fulfulling the five principles of LOHAS [Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability] when conceptualising every project," he said.

LOHAS refers to a market sector that desires goods and services that are focused on the five pillars of health and fitness, environment, personal development, sustainable living and social justice. The concept is not limited to only green movements, but also promotes a balance, healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

The Top 10 Awards was created in 2005, and is among the most coveted awards for the Asian building and design industry. The BCI Asia Top 10 Developers Awards was launched in 2011 to recognise the work of top developers in Asia — namely Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Sunway is currently one of the developers in Iskandar Malaysia. Sunway Iskandar is a sustainable integrated project with a gross development value (GDV) of RM12 billion, encompassing 691-acres of prime landbank in a joint-venture undertaking with Khazanah Nasional Bhd

Other upcoming developments include integrated mix-development Sunway Velocity, Sunway Geo, Sunway South Quay and further extensions of the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall. The group has an extensive portfolio in Malaysia and abroad including China, India, Cambodia, Vietnam and Singapore.
