UEM LAND TO BE RENAMED UEM SUNRISE
PETALING JAYA, June 12 (Bernama) -- Property developer UEM Land Holdings
Bhd will be changing its name to UEM Sunrise Bhd, with a formal annoucement
expected to be made on Friday.
UEM Land Chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali said the shareholders
agreed for the proposed name change at the company's fifth annual general
meeting here today.
He said the proposed name change will be submitted today to the Companies
Commission of Malaysia (SSM), with the approval expected before the formal
announcement.
"The reason for the name change is to enhance the branding of UEM Land and
Sunrise, by becoming one entity.
"We do not want to waste the brand equity that Sunrise brings to UEM Land,
especially in the construction of high-rise buildings," he told reporters after
the meeting.
Ahmad Tajuddin also said the new entity will leverage on both UEM Land and
Sunrise's skills, expertise and brand presence to venture into new geographical
markets and bid for new high-rise projects.
UEM Land took over Sunrise Bhd in 2010, for a proposed acquisition of RM1.39
billion, to strengthen the former's portfolio with the completion of several
