Chants of “Melayu” and “bebas Najib” were hurled at the AG by supporters of the former prime minister, who had gathered in solidarity with Najib at the court since early morning. 

While a few of Najib's children have come to provide support, his brothers and wife were noticeably absent from the hearing today.

“This suspension shall take effect immediately and will be in force until further instruction from us,” said the letter signed by MRL chief executive officer Datuk Sri Darwis Abd Razak.

Two months ago he was the powerful prime minister of the country. But Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s fortunes changed after Barisan Nasional’s shock defeat in the 14th general election (GE14). 

At about 8.15am Najib, dressed in blue, was escorted into the Jalan Duta Court complex through a group of media personnels and supporters of the former premier. 

Meanwhile, Najib's stepson Riza Aziz was still being questioned by MACC at the headquarters as at press time.

"Najib will be charged on July 4, 2018 (tomorrow) at 8.30am in a Kuala Lumpur Court."

Najib could be charged tomorrow for offences related to money-laundering.
