Bashir stays for another year

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) MD, Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, will be staying on for another year in the group, which has been under fire for the delay in completing klia2.

In a statement yesterday, MAHB announced that the Ministry of Finance (MoF) had extended Bashir’s services as managing director for another year effective June 7.

Three injured when interchange ramp of second Penang bridge collapses

GEORGE TOWN: Three people were hurt by falling concrete and steel girders when the interchange ramp of the Second Penang Bridge collapsed on June 6.

Two of the victims were construction workers Slamat, 36, from Indonesia and Tin Maung Iwin, 39, from Myanmar. Both were admitted to Penang Hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

Trilateral highway to be operational by 2016

NEW DELHI: The proposed ambitious trilateral 3,200km highway connecting India, Myanmar and Thailand is expected to be fully operational by 2016.

India is working closely with Myanmar and Thailand to develop the tri-lateral highway its Union Minister of Commerce, Industry & Textiles Anand Sharma said.

Multi-storey car park, women and children's hospital at HKL

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) in Jalan Pahang, here, the oldest and biggest in Southeast Asia, would continue to be upgraded to be the premier hospital in Malaysia, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.

He said RM940 million had been allocated for the building of a seven-storey car park and a Women and Children's Hospital there.

Kai Tak sites for 'locals only' flats sell for above estimates

HONG KONG: China Overseas & Investment has won the two sites in Kai Tak under the "Hong Kong property for Hong Kong people" scheme for a better-than-expected price.

The mainland developer paid HK$4.54 billion, or HK$5,157 per square foot, for the two sites, higher than surveyors' forecasts of up to HK$4.4 billion or HK$5,000 per sq ft.
