Johor has positive outlook, says Knight Frank

JOHOR BAHRU: The property sector outlook in Johor Bahru is expected to be positive as the market has maintained its growth momentum in the second half of 2010, said property consultant Knight Frank Malaysia in its research report on Malaysia's 2H2010 Real Estate Highlights.

Notable growth was particularly experienced by the mid-high to high end residential properties.

Cypark Resources to build 64-acre RE Park

KUALA LUMPUR: Cypark Resources Bhd will spearhead an initiative to build a Renewable Energy Park (RE Park) on approximately 64.2 acres (26 hectares) of remediated landfill in Pajam, which is in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

Housing Loans Division to disburse RM6.8b in loans to govt servants

CYBERJAYA: The Housing Loans Division of the Treasury is expected to disburse around RM6.8 billion in loans to government servants this year.

"It is higher than last year's RM5.9 billion, on the back of an increase in the maximum housing loan size, recently announced by the government," Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussein told reporters here.

Malaysia Budget Hotel Association aims for more members

JOHOR BAHRU: The Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MBHA) is working to get more budget hotel operators around the country to become its member.

Its president Datuk Dr Muhamad Nasir Hamzah said the move was aimed at enhancing the quality of budget hotel services as well as to remove the negative image of budget hotels sometimes portrayed as the centres for vice activities.

Calls mount for further cooling measures

HONG KONG: Property analysts called on the government to release new measures to cool the overheated property market, because Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah's budget failed to address the problem, they said.
