Overview

Bandar Damai Perdana (BDR) is a middleclass freehold residential and commercial area situated among the rolling green hills of Cheras. Adjacent to this small but self contained township are areas like Taman Cheras Utama, Sungai Besi, Taman Baru Jaya and Taman Desa Cheras which were all once tin mining and agricultural lands. This relatively new enclave, which is part of the Federal Territory, is modern, clean, and spacious with wide roads and avenues that are lined with beautiful palms and trees. The kerbed nature strips are tidy and well maintained and most sections are gated with 24 hour security. Houses here comprising mainly of 2 storey terraced homes, bungalows and semi-detached houses are well planned and arranged with straight roads servicing them. There are lots of lush greenery, open airy zones, good infra and the view of Kuala Lumpur city at night is beautiful from a number homes here located on higher ground. There are two commercial centres, one older well established one, with lots of shop offices with a myriad of products and services while another newer one is located right in the middle at the northern border of BDR. The population here is mainly made up roughly 75% Chinese, 9% Indian, 13% Malay and 3% others while the value of properties here have appreciated much, said to be due to the completion of the Phoenix flyover, from The Mines area, and the access from the MRR2 Highway in recent years.

Amenities & Facilities

Within this area itself, one can find dozens of restaurant outlets, lots of retail shops and business offices but only one UOB bank and an ATM machine. These shops and outlets also include hair salons, beauticians, a couple of 99 Speedmart mini-marts, a Sports Toto branch, music schools, 7-Eleven stores, steamboat restaurants, clinics, pharmacies, Nyonya Kopitiam, cake shops, bakeries, pet shops, tyre and car accessories shops etc. Although there is no shopping mall within BDR but there is The Mines Shopping Mall and Aeon Big hypermarket, just 10 minutes drive distance while Econsave and Giant hypermarkets are only 4 km away. However, there is only a single Petron petrol station that is located in BDR itself. There are public services like a Balai Polis and Pos office in the town centre while hospitals like Columbia Asia Pantai and Pantai Cheras Medical Centre are within easy reach by car. Kelab Golf Mahkota Tentera Diraja or Royal Crown Forces Golf Club and the Malaysian International Exhibition & Convention centre are 10 to 15 minutes’ drive away only. There are a few flats and apartments in this area’s vicinity which add variety to the choice of residences in this residential scheme. Schools like SJK (C) Taman Connaught and SMK Bandar Damai Perdana as well as kindergartens provide the educational needs of kids and teenagers of this enclave.

Accessiblity & Transport

Accessibility to this area is adequate with Persiaran Damai Perdana being the main avenue that runs through and helps linked up BDR with the SILK Highway and the other housing areas to the North and Balakong as well as Sri Kembangan in the South –West and West respectively. KL city centre is just 20 to 25 minutes’ drive away by highways while traffic congestions do occur especially rush hours on roads within as well as roads leading in and out of this development. Public transport is provided via Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT Station or by public buses like RapidKL and Metro Buses. There are a number of bus-stops located strategically on the bus route along Persiaran Damai Perdana meeting BDR and its resident’s needs.
