Deep in the heart of booming Puchong lies, Taman Puchong Utama (TPU), a residential and commercial enclave, which has some industrial sections also. Populated by over 40,000 residents, this middleclass 600 acre development, of which development works started in 1995, by Hillcrest Gardens Sdn.Bhd., is well supported by good infrastructure and a thriving commercial centre. Comprising housing schemes like Aster and Sections PU 1 to 10, it is surrounded by Taman Puchong Perdana, Bandar Bukit Puchong and other areas as well as ‘green lungs’ zones, lakes and ponds.

Once plantation and tin mining areas, the freehold status land here has seen major price fluctuations in its built properties in late 2016 to April 2017.  Comprising mainly double storey terrace houses and 1 and 3 storey shops, the houses here are pleasant with some sections having modern contemporary looking designs, with wide streets, tidy nature strips and well maintained roads.

The area away from the highway, main roads and commercial centre is peaceful, quiet and green while traffic flow is low. But traffic congestions occur especially during rush hours along Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), flyovers and other access roads leading in and out of this area. Its northern section across the LDP has some major factories and warehousing lots with big names such as DHL, Artwright, Pelican, and Tractors industrial plant.

<h3>Amenities & Facilities</h3>

Food outlets like Secret Recipe, Domino’s, Restoran Bravo’s, Sha Arab Restaurant, and a kopitiam hawker centre are located at the 3 storey shops or at Aeon Big Hypermarket.  Also existing there are Poliklinik My-Medik, Cambridge Emglish language School, Pet Medical Centre, a pharmacy, Watson’s, 7-Eleven, a Maybank ATM machine (Aeon Big), TM Point, and 99 Speedmart, etc. Located outside of this area but within short driving distances are Tesco, Giant, IOI Shopping Mall, Banks, Petrol stations, and more which leave residents here spoiled for choice.

There are also Immigration and National Registration Department branches at the commercial centre while a KSL-Sports Centre is located further away from these shops. Across the highway is a wet market along Jalan Puchong which has plenty of eateries close-by to this road.

There a few playgrounds and open green vacant land which makes this development look and feel more spacious, airy and recreational. Schools like SK Puchong Utama 1, SK Puchong Utama 2, SK Puchong Utama 3 and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Puchong Utama 1 are all within walking or short driving distance for residents here. There are many recreational lakes, for fishing, that also add beauty to the natural environment of Puchong as a whole, which TPU residents can enjoy. Jogging tracks encircle these lakes and the views around them are beautiful and serene. Golf courses at Bukit Jalil and Kinrara areas are 20 minutes and 15 minutes drive away respectively.

<h3>Accessibility & Transportation</h3>

Accessibility to TPU is actually good but because of traffic congestions that happen during rush hours makes getting in and out of this area sometimes difficult. One can go through other adjacent areas in order to get onto the main highways further away but these routes can be quite complicated. The LDP highway helps, by interconnecting with the KESAS, SKVE, MEX and ELITE Highways, link this area to KL city, Klang city, Petaling Jaya, Sha Alam and KLIA with ease and convenience especially during non peak traffic periods. The LDP Highway also links this area to Cyberjaya and Putrajaya which in-turn link to the KL-Seremban Highway. Bus services are available with many bus-stops at key points along Jalan Puchong and Persiaran Puchong Utama and the LRT also comes to Puchong.
