Bakri, or Bukit Bakri, as it is better known as, is a town located in the state of Johor. Bukit Bakri is easily accessible via Federal Route 24 along the North-South Expressway in the Muar district, a mere 5 kilometers east of Muar town.
The remarkable diversity of Bukit Bakri shines through as it houses final resting places of followers of the different main religions in Malaysia, including Muslim, Chinese, Christian and Hindu cemeteries. A Japanese war cemetery from World War 2 also adds to the historical element and charm of Bukit Bakri.
Emerging from a sleepy hollow to a bustling town, this was due to the emergence of several multinational electronic companies in Tanjung Agas as well as the thriving furniture industry in Muar. As such, majority of the rubber plantations and traditional village houses in Bukit Bakri have now been substituted with commercial and modern housing development.
