Overview

Ampang is a historic town and district of Kuala Lumpur (KL) in the Titiwangsa constituency. A part of Ampang, which is located in the state of Selangor, used to be a tin mining town. Its area in KL can be identified as being along the Ampang Road and Ampang Hilir.

Ampang Hilir is a prime city location, and given the opportunity, one would definitely want to own a piece of property in this pretty distinguished address. Why so, you ask? That is simple. First and foremost, a strong differentiating factor of the area is its “green living” concept – something which is novel given its close proximity to the heart of the city. There is a park surrounding a lake here stretching about 1.5km long around a former mining pool. Surrounded by relatively newly planted trees, and carpeted with grass, it offers a pleasant place to unwind, featuring some basic exercise equipment, a jogging track to share with cyclists, and a kids’ play area, making this a popular green lung for locals and expats alike.

Moreover, Ampang Hilir is nestled amidst the exclusive Embassy Row. Teemed with foreign embassies and high commissions, you know security is good. To top it all, upscale tree-lined properties of all types, from bungalows and semi-dees to condominiums and serviced suites, with well-manicured lawns, complete its elite position. The neighbourhood here is without a doubt highly prestigious as it by and large caters to expats and the super high-end markets.

Amenities and facilities

Ampang Hilir's location is unmatched. It has unparalleled access, be it to the city’s finest shopping, dining and entertainment spots, or leading international five-star hotels in and around  KLCC, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang. Vital facilities like medical centres are all within a 10- to 15-minute reach, for instance, the Gleneagles Hospital KL, KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist and HSC Medical Centres as well as the KL International Dental Centre. Additionally, private and international educational facilities like the British curriculum-based Sayfol and Fairview International schools are minutes away, and to the delight of many, the private and non-profit, parent-governed school accredited in the United States, the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) is targeting to open a new campus set on 25.7 acres in Ampang Hilir by August 2018. Building works on the new campus are earnestly underway as at Apr 2017.

Accessibility and transportation

This prime location within the city limits itself is served mainly by Jalan Ampang. However, it is also accessible via Jalan U Thant, Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Tun Razak. Traffic may be a bit of a problem during peak hours as it is usually backed up on Jalan Ampang Hilir, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak. Nonetheless, its convenient location allows for easy access due to the availability of several connecting highways, namely the AKLEH (Ampang-KL Elevated Highway), SMART (Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) Expressway and Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE).

Hence, Bukit Bintang and Pavilion are 10 minutes away, while it only takes up to 20 minutes to get to Bangsar, Bukit Damansara and Mont’Kiara.
