Sungai Bakap is a small town located in Seberang Perai, Penang. It is located in between Valdor and Nibong Tebal.
Sungai Bakap was a part of a huge sugarcane plantation, which was later replaced by oil palm plantation. It is still a rural village, located in the vicinity of urban development.
Sungai Bakap is under the administration of Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP). The town is known for its agriculture and heritage.
The location used to be known as a pit-stop for travellers from Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh as it has variety of food to offer.
The town is believed to be established by sugar pioneer Kee Lai Huat in late 19th century. One of the attractions in Sungai Bakap is the grand Chinese-style courtyard mansion called the Kee Poh Huat Kongsi, which was home for the Kee clan.
Sungai Bakap is located about 45 minutes from George Town. It is located between the Ipoh-Butterworth intersections and near to the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge, which connects to the island.

The infrastructure is expected to be improved as the current roads are not accommodating the traffic in the area, especially with more developments underway in the coming years.
