Parit Raja is a town in the Batu Pahat district in the state of Johor. Parit Raja is located approximately 25 kilometres away from Bandar Penggaram, the capital of Batu Pahat district and about 7 kilometres from Ayer Hitam. Parit Raja is renowned for its scrumptious local traditional snacks.
According to historical hearsay, ‘Parit’ refers to the relatively flat terrain and abundant waterways, while ‘Raja’ was named as such when a member of a royal family stopped by in the area to get a drink.
This town has undergone significant growth due to the brisk development of the Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia, or Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) as it is better known as which is located here.
