Overview
Rengit is a small and sleepy town located in the district of Batu Pahat in the state of Johor. It is also the border town between Batu Pahat and the Pontian district. Located along highway No. 5 which links the towns from north to south in West Johor, Regit is about 30 kilometres south of Batu Pahat and approximately 38 kilometres north of Pontian Kechil.
To the locals and also visitors from the surrounding towns, Rengit is the place to head to if they want to seek out bargains for new, pre-owned goods and even antiques or vintage items at the popular ‘Pasar Karat’, which is the colloquial term for a flea market. Alternatively, many used good shops have now sprung up at the indigenous people’s village which is also known as the Kampung Orang Asli Bumiputra Dalam in Rengit.
