Overview

Straddling the state border between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya in Selangor, Damansara consists of a central commercial hub known as Pusat Bandaraya Damansara (Damansara Town Centre) alongside affluent residential enclaves. Located just 5 km from KL city centre, Damansara’s close proximity to a plethora of commercial, financial, retail and entertainment offerings in the city makes it a sought-after commercial and residential address.

Built in the early 1980s, Pusat Bandar Damansara is equipped with a series of commercial buildings which hosts colleges, private multinational corporations, regulatory bodies and government ministries and departments, and restaurants. The offices of the Immigration Department of Malaysia and the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government of Malaysia were based here before they relocated to the new federal administrative capital of Malaysia in Putrajaya. The recent urban redevelopment of Pusat Bandar Damansara will see the entry of a mixed integrated development comprising serviced apartments, offices, shopping malls and a hotel.

One of the notable neighbourhoods within Damansara is Damansara Heights, which was established as a residential scheme for government servants. The neighbourhood initially consists of terraced houses, but has now been populated with large bungalows and sprawling mansions across its hilly terrain. Today, Damansara Heights is one of the most prestigious residential neighbourhoods in the Klang Valley and home to many of the nation’s rich and famous.

 

Amenities and Facilities

Damansara is in close proximity to upscale neighbourhoods such as Bangsar, Bukit Tunku and Mont’Kiara, which offer an abundance of amenities such as shopping centres, medical centres and recreational facilities. Located just a few minutes’ drive from Pusat Bandar Damansara are HELP University and Cempaka International School, while the French School of KL, Garden International School and Mont’Kiara International School are easily accessible.

The Royal Selangor Club in Bukit Kiara, Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort and TPC KL (formerly KL Golf & Country Club) are also within easy reach. Within the vicinity of Damansara are a variety of shopping malls, including Bangsar Village I, Bangsar Village II, Bangsar Shopping Centre, The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Megamall as well as the new DC Mall and Pavilion Damansara Heights.

 

Accessibility and Transportation

Damansara is accessible via major roads such as Jalan Beringin, Jalan Semantan and Jalan Damansara in addition to Jalan Maarof which connects to Bangsar and Jalan Duta which leads to the North-South Expressway. Other expressways connecting Damansara to other areas in KL and PJ within minutes include SPRINT Expressway, Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) and New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). The new Pusat Bandar Damansara (PBD) MRT station is an interchange between the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line and MRT Circle Line. It is just two stations away from KL Sentral, where passengers can reach KLIA in just 28 minutes via the KLIA Ekspres.
