Overview
This upper-class residential enclave, being home to many of the elite in the country, makes Kenny Hills the “address of addresses”. Located in the hilly fringes of Kuala Lumpur city, it is also a green lung for the capital. It comprises mainly luxury bungalows with beautiful large gardens and low-density condominiums.
Originally known as Kenny Hills, it is now called Bukit Tunku, after the late Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, whose house is located here. It borders the central business district (CBD) of the city, which is demarcated by Jalan Kuching and and Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar.
The many small tree-lined winding roads that go up and down as well as in and around the green hills make this exclusive residential sanctuary very pleasant to drive through, not to mention live in. Common features among the posh residences here include private swimming pools and large lovely landscaped gardens, and a few even boast individual tennis courts. Many of the bungalows sit on sizeable pieces of land averaging 8,000 sq ft, with average built-up areas of 6,000 sq ft.
Amenities and facilities
There are many facilities and amenities available in the surrounding areas. Though not within walking distance, most of them can be reached by car within minutes. For medical facilities, there are the Sentosa Medical Centre, Damai Service Hospital, Lourdes Medical Centre and Sentul Medical Centre nearby. The Sentul Fire and Rescue Station is within a short driving distance, while the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri office (LHDN) is just across Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim. Close by is also the Kuala Lumpur Sports Medicine Centre, National Tennis Centre and Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia.
Publika Shopping Gallery, Plaza Damas - Sri Hartamas, Maju Junction Mall and Sogo (KL) Department Store are some of the shopping centres located 5 to 15 minutes’ drive away besides the many retail shops at Solaris Mont Kiara, Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Raja Laut. There are banks, clinics, boutiques, hotels, restaurants, offices and government services amongst these roads. Prominent attractions in its vicinity also include the Putra World Trade Centre, Perdana Botanical Gardens, Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre, and the Royal Selangor Club.
Academic institutions situated within short driving distances are Open University Malaysia, the Garden International School in Mont’Kiara and Univeriti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), besides government schools like SM Sains Seri Puteri and SK (I) Jalan Batu.
Accessibility and transportation
Accessibility is not a concern although public transportation is, as there is neither LRT stations located nearby nor any public buses plying through Kenny Hills. However, one can call for a taxi anytime as there are plenty of taxis plying along the main roads and highways surrounding this area.
Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, at one end, links up with Jalan Damansara and Lebuhraya Duta – Sungai Buloh that leads to North South Highway while another end links to Jalan Segambut and Jalan Ipoh. Jalan Kuching is also linked to Kenny Hills via Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, which also connects to Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Perhentian, both of which lead to KL city centre. Jalan Tun Ismail and Jalan Putra are linked to Jalan Tunku, which winds its way through the heart of Kenny Hills.
