Bandar Sunway

 

Overview

Bandar Sunway (also known as Sunway Resort City) was the first fully integrated township in Malaysia. It was developed, from 800 acres of abandoned tin mining land, by Sunway Berhad. Located 18 km from Kuala Lumpur, it is renowned not only as a higher education hub but also as an entertainment center.

Property Types

In terms of real estate, majority of the properties are condominiums (46%) and apartments (17%) with a very low land allocation for residential properties (less than 1%) which mostly consist of 2 to 3-storey terrace/link houses and semi-detached houses. But properties such as South Quay, Palmville, Lagoon View Resort Condominium, Sun-U Residence, Indah Villa, Lagoon Perdana Apartments and The Spectrum dominate the region.

Amenities and Facilities

On the educational front you cannot find Bandar Sunway lacking in any way. There are schools such as SK Bandar Sunway, SMK Bandar Sunway and Sunway International School. World class private higher education is offered by Monash University, Sunway University, Sunway Le Cordon Bleu (culinary arts school), Sunway College and The One Academy (art college). Sunway University offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool, fields for rugby, cricket, hockey and football and courts for tennis, badminton, basketball, netball and volleyball.

All your retail desires can be met at Sunway Pyramid, an Egyptian themed shopping mall, with an indoor ice skating rink, TGV Cinemas, bowling alley, archery, gaming arcade and Red Box karaoke for entertainment. But if it is solely entertainment you are looking for there is no better place than Sunway Lagoon, a theme park consisting of Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Scream Park and Extreme Park. But that is not all it offers! It also has the largest man made surf beach and an amphitheatre where theatrical productions, musicals, magic shows and concerts featuring artistes from all the over the world take place.

Medical emergencies are handled by Sunway Medical Centre. The free Sunway Shuttle Bus Service is an effective public transportation mode within Bandar Sunway as all the major locations are stops on its route. Students primarily use The Canopy Walk, elevated walkway, which connects South Quay, Sunway University, Monash University Sunway Campus, Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon because it is a lot safer as they never have to step onto the roads. Other amenities include Selangor Tourist Police Service Centre, Masjid Al-Husna, Masjid Al-Muzakkirin, a post office, banks, a police station, wide range of restaurants and multiple churches.

Accessibility and Transportation

Bandar Sunway is well connected via Federal Highway, Shah Alam Expressway, New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), North-South Expressway Central Link and Damansara-Puchong Expressway. The proposed elevated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) – Sunway Line will connect Bandar Sunway to Setia Jaya KTM station and the future USJ6 LRT station.
