Overview

Puchong South is generally referred to as the southern area of Puchong and around the Damanasara-Puchong Exrepssway (LDP) - Puchong South toll plaza. It covers residential areas such as Bandar Bukit Puchong, Taman Saujana and Bandar Putra Permai, and is about 30 minutes to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 25 minutes to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and 20 minutes to Petaling Jaya.

Accessibility and Transportation

This township started to rise in the late 1990’s after the development of the nation’s IT and administrative hubs in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya, about 20 minutes away. Puchong South is accessible by the newer highways, namely Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Expressway, Maju Expressway (MEX) and North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE). The three major trunk roads – Jalan Puchong, Jalan Pulau Meranti and Jalan Putra Permai – also connect all major townships in the area. With the Puchong areas currently lacking public transport, the upcoming Ampang LRT extension (from Sri Petaling through Puchong ending at Putra Heights) and MRT 2 (from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya through Serdang) will give the locale a boost.

Amenities and Facilities

The township is maturing nicely, with amenities such as AEON, Giant hypermarket, Selangor Wholesale Market, international schools - Alice Smith School in Taman Equine, and a host more in nearby townships, to name a few being Columbia Asia Hospital, Hospital Serdang, Putrajaya Hospital, Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU) and Lim Kok Wing University. One can find the newest mall in the area - IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, which is filled with a good selection of eateries, entertainment shops, boutiques to cater to the young and middle income residents of the area, mostly first time home buyers from other states. There are also residents whom are upgrading from the congested parts of Puchong whom are moving into some of the newer lifestyle centric development in the area. Many are owners of SMEs and SMIs in Puchong.

Property Development

The area is abound with landed properties - more of the standard terraced types, however there is a shift towards more luxurious high-rise projects. Among developments in Puchong South include 16 Sierra by IOI Properties Group Bhd, which offers lifestyle living with modern designs, greenery, and security Some examples of more recent condominium developments are Zeva by Trinity Group, O2 City by Perfect Eagle Development,3 Elements by Titijaya Land Bhd.

Some notable upcoming condominiums and serviced apartments are Andana Condominium, Epic Suites, La Thea Residences, Nuovo, O2 Residence, Paragon 3, Sfera Residence, Springville Residence and Zeva. These projects are expected to contribute upwards of a whopping 3,500 units in the coming years, significantly expanding the local population and turning the area into an increasingly important urban centre.

The new highway and public transport systems are a plus to the area. The township has come very far from its palm oil estate and low-medium cost housing types.
