Kuang

Overview

Kuang is a small town situated in the Gombak district of Selangor approximately 19 km Northwest of Kuala Lumpur. It is a tranquil location without the bustle of city life with residential properties settled amidst dense greenery. The opening of the railway branch Kuang –Batu Arang – Batang Berjuntai from the mainline of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) made it an important location. But this branch was later dismantled as newer branches were developed elsewhere.

The Malaysia Bible Seminary (MBS) which trains and prepares Christians for ministry is located here. MBS is comprised of the English Department, Chinese Department and Centre for Christianity and Malaysian Studies and also offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in theology and related fields. The Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA) has a cement depot located in Kuang responsible for cement distribution for many major construction projects such as highways and bridges. CIMA also aids in education in the form of tuition for UPSR students and internships in collaboration with local universities to provide hands-on experience for Mechanical and Civil Engineering students.

Ameniities and Facilities

For activities in neighboring locations a 30 minute drive will lead to Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club which has a spectacular 27-hole course nestled amongst luscious greenery. About 6 km away are Tasik Biru, Hutan Lipur Bukit Lagong and Kelab Rahman Putra golf course. Tasik Biru is a well-known recreational lake for water sports popular among locals and tourists while Hutan Lipur Bukit Lagong is a recreational forest park that offers eco-tourism and leisure activities such as cycling and bathing in the river. For healthcare services head on to KPJ Rawang Specialist Centre or Hospital Sungai Buloh just a 20-minute drive away. Taman Kuang Raya housing development is also just a stone’s throw away. Other amenities in the area include schools, SJK T Kuang, SK Kuang, Eduwis Kuang Kindergarten; Masjid Kuang Batu, Masjid Jamek Al-Hikmah, gas stations, Balai Polis Kuang, Keshitan Clinic and just over a km away are the supermarket E Mart Taman Seri and Rani Organic Chicken Farm.

Accessibility and Trannsportations

Strategically positioned where multiple highways intersect, Kuang is accessible via Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR), Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and the North-South Expressway (NSE). Alternatively, Jalan Kepong (Federal Route 54) can be used to reach Kuang via Jalan Kuang. To access via public transport the easiest way is to get off the KTM station at Sungai Buloh and reach Kuang via Jalan Kusta and Jalan Matang Pagar.
