Dungun

DUNGUN

Dungun is a coastal district located in the state of Terengganu. The capital of this district is Kuala Dungun. Dungun is made up of eleven subdistricts namely Abang, Besol, Jengai, Jerangau, Kuala Dungun, Kuala Paka, Kumpal, Rasau, Pasir Raja, Sura and Hulu Paka.

Dungun is located about 300 kilometres northeast of Kuala Lumpur, and is easily accessible by the East Coast Highway as well as regular daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu as well as interstate buses.

Dungun is also home to several distinctive schools as well as public institutions of higher learning, such as Universiti Teknologi MARA. There is also an oil refinery about 20 kilometres south of Dungun near the town of Paka, which owned by PETRONAS.

Although Dungun is a quaint small town, it has numerous tourism attractions on offer, and these include eco-tourism galore with its lush tropical forests and white sandy beaches among others.
