PETALING JAYA (Aug 12): A large patch of forest along Jalan Kuching near the Segambut roundabout was burnt on Friday (Aug 10) night.

A Malaysian Insight report said the fire nearly reached the Jalan Duta Court Complex.

The Star reported yesterday that the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 9.56pm about the fire.

"Around 32 firemen and seven fire engines were dispatched from the Sentul, Sri Hartamas, Bukit Bintang, and Kepong Batu fire stations to the scene.

"As soon as we arrived, we realised the fire was getting close to the court complex," Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman told The Star when contacted yesterday.

The fire was brought under control after about an hour.

A billboard near the forest was also destroyed by the blaze.

No casualties were reported and the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department will investigate the cause of the fire.
