KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) has temporarily closed its Kepong branch here, including access to its self-service banking machines, after it was notified by health authorities that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

The bank said the branch will remain closed as it conducts a deep-clean of the premises, and will be opened when it receives the necessary clearance from health authorities.

“The employee, who is a mortgage specialist based at the branch, had visited Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah, between Sept 10 and 13. We are offering assistance to our colleague and his family as he focuses on his recovery,” said UOB Malaysia.

"We have conducted contact tracing and all colleagues and customers who came into close contact with the confirmed case will be contacted by the end of the day. They are being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days while they monitor their health and await further instructions from the authorities. We are working closely with the health authorities on any further follow-up measures that may be required," it added.

The bank went on to reassure its customers and colleagues that it has implemented precautionary measures to ensure safety. It also encouraged its customers to continue using its digital banking services such as UOB Personal Internet Banking, UOB Business Internet Banking Plus and the UOB Mighty mobile app.

“For those customers who need to use our branch services, please proceed to our Damansara Uptown and Kota Damansara Branches, or any other branch that is convenient to carry out their banking needs,” the bank added.
