KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): The Real Estate & Housing Developers’ Association Youth section (Rehda Youth) organised a study tour of two healthcare-related property projects on Feb 17.

Some 44 representatives from the property development industry took part in the tour of Prince Court Medical Center, Kuala Lumpur and AraGreens Residences in Ara Damansara, Selangor.

“The theme for the Feb 17 study tour was healthcare, and the visit to Prince Court was to gain insights of their operation and some special features available only in healthcare facilities,” tour organising committee member Geron Tan told TheEdgeProperty.com.

The other project was AraGreens, a healthcare-inspired development with lots of design considerations for the elderly. The developer also has a healthcare background, said Tan.

“One of the benefits of the study tour was that we were able to access certain restricted areas where usually only the residents or staff are allowed, to understand healthcare industry practices. We also gained a lot from the sharing session by the hosts,” said another organising committee member Ethan Lai.

Moving forward, Rehda Youth plans to have more study tours this year, including to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) at KL Metropolis, Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Nanning in China.

“We will try to organise more tours with a focus on a building theme, such as green buildings, education facilities, high-rise housing, commercial and so on. This gives our members a different experience and insight into the various built environments,” Lai noted.

He also revealed that the next study tour is scheduled for March 22 to MITEC and another project to be confirmed.

Chairperson Carrie Fong said study tours are an essential component of Rehda Youth’s activity.

“It promotes communication, sharing and education among members and industry partners for the betterment of the property industry.

“Our tours are diversified to anticipate market trends hence we are expanding from looking into sustainable buildings and other market segments,” she told TheEdgeProperty.com.
