GEORGE TOWN (Feb 24): TheEdgeProperty.com held a networking and appreciation dinner for property industry players in the northern region tonight.

In her welcoming remarks, managing director and editor-in-chief of TheEdgeProperty.com Au Foong Yee noted that the real estate industry is undergoing a challenging period and although many predictions have been made, no one knows for sure when the property market will recover.

"We do not know what is going to happen in the future but one thing we are sure is that people still regard real estate as a very exciting and impactful investment.

"The other reality is that people are getting more and more discerning. When they buy, they are expecting more. They also rely a lot more on data from credible sources," she noted.

TheEdgeProperty.com's product and business development director Alvin Ong then gave a presentation on the property market in Penang (mainland and island).

The networking dinner saw as many as 50 representatives from the property development companies in Penang and Kedah attending the event including committee members of the Penang branch of the Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association.
