PUNCAK ALAM (April 19): Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) today signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Brainy Bunch International Islamic Montessori for the sale of lands at its mixed development townships to the latter, at a price to be determined later.

Brainy Bunch is buying two parcels of land: one in Eco Grandeur at Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, and the other in Eco Tropics at Iskandar Malaysia, Johor Bahru.

EcoWorld president and chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah said the developer is excited to be working on this new collaboration with Brainy Bunch.

"This is to provide high quality education to our community as well as the surrounding communities in two of EcoWorld's largest townships," he said in his opening address at the signing ceremony today.

Under the MoUs, Brainy Bunch will develop and operate an international school campus in Eco Grandeur, while in Eco Tropics, it will build and operate a Montessori kindergarten campus.

Eco Grandeur, located on 1,400 acres of land, is a modern integrated green township leasehold consisting of residential and commercial units.

The entire development, comprising Eco Grandeur and the adjacent Eco Business Park V, has a gross development value (GDV) of RM15 billion.

"With a reputable education provider like Brainy Bunch in Eco Grandeur, it will be an exciting time for our township and the surrounding area to grow," Chang said, adding that the international school offers primary education till tertiary education.

Meanwhile, the 991.6-acre Eco Tropics is a mixed township with a GDV of RM5.4 billion. It features homes that are inspired by the architecture of The Hamptons resort on Long Island, New York.

"Brainy Bunch's entry to Eco Tropics is very timely and in line with our mission of creating world-class eco living in all our developments," he said.

Founded in 2010, Brainy Bunch operates 74 pre-school campuses nationwide with a total student population of over 6,000.

"For our international school in Putra Heights, Malaysia, we have 500 students currently. We also have two in Singapore and one in Indonesia as well as one charity school in Gaza," said Brainy Bunch founder and chief executive officer Mohd Fadzil Hashim.

At the midday break today, EcoWorld rose 1.99% or 3 sen to RM1.54 with 3.01 million shares traded. —
