KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): WCT Holdings Bhd said yesteday it is not bidding for the construction of a highway project within the Indo-China region. 

“The board of directors, after due enquiry, wishes to inform that the company is not involved in the bidding for the construction of a highway project in Indo-China as reported,” WCT said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

“As a group with its core business in engineering and construction, WCT is constantly looking for business opportunities and will make the necessary disclosure if and when it secures any new material contract,” it added.

It was responding to a recent news article quoting sources that WCT was a front-runner to construct a tolled expressway in the region, which could form part of the US$650 million Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai expressway.

WCT’s share price settled 3.9% lower at RM2.22 yesterday, valuing the group at RM3.03 billion. — theedgemarkets.com
