PETALING JAYA (Aug 8): Global outsourcing and technology services company Aegis Ltd has expanded its presence in Malaysia with the opening of its new Business Process Management (BPM) Centre of Excellence (COE) in Medini City, the central business district of Iskandar Puteri in Johor.

In a press statement today, Aegis global CEO Sandip Sen said the state-of-the-art facility will provide a suite of BPM solutions across its clientele in Malaysia, Singapore and the Asia Pacific.

“The centre will have an initial capacity for over 700 employees, which could be additionally expanded basis new business opportunities and growth. At the time of inauguration, the new facility would have employed up to 550 personnel, of which 90% would be local workforce from Johor, Iskandar,” he added.

Sandip stressed that by having a presence in Malaysia, it could reinforces Aegis’ strategy of providing the customers with an ecosystem which taps a skilled talent market and provides the best tools, processes and practices to enhance customer experience and life-time value.

Aegis, a wholly-owned unit by Essar Group, has operations in 46 locations across nine countries with more than 40,000 employees.

The company entered Malaysia in 2014 and since then has grown to over 3,000 professionals serving leading enterprises across two centres in Kuala Lumpur.

Aegis Malaysia provides a holistic Business Process Management, SMAC and technology-based solutions across Telecom, BFSI, Retail, Consumer, Hospitality and technology.

Johor Chief Minister Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin officiated the launch of the new BPM centre.

i2M Ventures Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd) managing director Zulfiqar Zainuddin said Aegis Iskandar’s Centre of Excellence will drive Iskandar Puteri to new heights with the creation of high-value knowledge-based jobs.

Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd managing director and CEO Dr James Tee noted that with Aegis’ presence in Medini 7, Medini City will be a magnet for other international and local companies looking to expand their businesses here.
